SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Experts from around Central New York came together to hold a dialog and Tuesday night’s discussion focused on children’s mental health prevention and treatment.
The discussion was hosted by the CNY Biotech Accelerator in Syracuse.
Those with Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital came to share ideas and perspectives, all in an effort to guide the community in developing solutions to this issue.
“Eighty percent of children who struggle with mental health problems do not receive treatment and untreated can lead to risks, including difficulties in school, it can lead to adult problems, it can lead to physical problems, it can lead to peer pressure and substance abuse,” said Dr. Wanda Fremont, Vice Chair of Child Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
Experts hope the discussion will lead to increased services in the community.
