Two people were shot and killed in the parking lot of the Chili’s location on Erie Blvd. E in DeWitt around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. When police arrived on the scene, one of the employees was dead and the other was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The Chili’s crew is now mourning the loss of their two co-workers. One of the managers posting on Facebook, “For everyone reaching out to me this morning, I am ok. Not emotionally, but physically.”

The restaurant will be closed for the next few days as the investigation continues, but other nearby stores, like Scotch N’ Sirloin remain open.

“To think about those guys who lost some coworkers–we don’t want that happening to anyone.. that’s awful, it’s terrible,” said Yann Guigne, Executive Chef at Scotch’ N Sirloin.

Guigne and others who live and work near ShoppingTown Mall describe the area as safe and quiet.

“Little scary coming over here this afternoon to see, you know, find out that that actually happened in this area–it’s a little scary,” said Trish Welsh, who goes to ShoppingTown Mall.

Though some of the neighboring businesses aren’t familiar with the staff at Chili’s their hearts go out to them.

“I’m just sad for all of the staff of Chili’s…I feel very sad for them and of course for the family of people who died and you know, it’s going to be a tough time,” Guigne said.

Wood was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants. Police said he’s known to ride a brown or orange colored BMX bike.
