SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Clear skies means construction is full-speed ahead for a new space coming to downtown Syracuse.
The Salt City market will be 78,000 square feet and four stories tall and will be taking over the corner of South Salina Street and West Onondaga Street.
On Monday, there was a groundbreaking. When finished, the market will feature 10 food stalls, a grocery store, cafe bar and a teaching kitchen to showcase culinary talent from different countries and cultures, all while focusing on the talented people who live right here in Central New York.
“When I look at this project, I think about the vision that it takes to come up with something this ambitious, this exciting. And when I think about vision, I think about our city’s vision to be a growing city that embraces diversity and creates opportunity for all,” said Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh.
The second floor of the building will be office space and the top two floors will hold 26 apartments.
