COOL SCHOOLS: Solvay students visit SU for biology event

Local News

Twenty-one eighth and ninth-grade students from the Solvay Union Free School District came to Syracuse University recently for the bi-annual Biology Apprenticeship Evening.

The goal of the event is to expose students to the STEM field, introduce them to current undergrads who can serve as mentors, and allow them to do hands-on experiments in a university lab.

Syracuse instructors took students on tours of laboratories and the greenhouse in the Life Sciences Building on the SU campus, and led them through group experiments.

They also student fish embryos and live zebra fish to learn more about genetics.
