Cortland Country first responders to train on pet O2 masks

Local News

Answering emergency calls where pets also happen to be patients — looking better as the Cortlandville Fire Department receives 32 pet oxygen masks from Invisible Fence of the Finger Lakes.

Cortlandville Assistant Fire Chief Brian Pendell says they’re thankful for the generous donation.

Pendell, his fellow firefighters and several other first responders in Cortland County began fundraising to obtain more masks this past June not long after Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies worked to revive a family’s dog after a fire at their home.

“The Cortlandville Fire Department is overwhelmed by the support it received through online and local donations allowing emergency service providers throughout the greater Cortland County region to provide their citizens and their four legged family members another life saving tool,” Pendell said.

Several Cortland County first responders will be trained to use the masks next month.
