Cortland police officer retires after 21 years

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — After 21 years on the force, Cortland Police Officer Jesse Abbott is retiring. 

He posted a photo on Facebook, showing the letter he delivered to the chief. Officer Abbott says he made lifelong friends with officers, and many in the community. 

He most recently worked in the Office of Community Oriented Policing. Officer Abbott says his last day will be July 16.
