Crews battle early morning fire in Westcott neighborhood

Local News

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) Syracuse firefighters are looking into what caused a house fire in the city’s Westcott neighborhood Saturday morning.

Crews were called to the multi-dwelling home between Cambridge Street and Allen Street just after 3:30 a.m. Investigators believe the fire started at the back of a second-floor apartment.

The Syracuse Fire Department is crediting working smoke detectors for alerting two people on the second floor. Those individuals then alerted a third person living on the first floor. No injuries have been reported.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
