Emergency crews were called to an industrial fire at a business along Brewerton Boad just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Syracuse Utilities, Inc., a construction and utlities company, is located between Bartell Road and Willow Street. The company was founded in 1974, according to its website.
Several fire departments responded to the call including the Brewerton Fire Department, Clay Fire Department and West Monroe fire crews.
Brewerton Road was closed for a few hours between Bartell Road and Guy Young Road.
Brewerton Fire Department Asst. Fire Chief Gerald Muckey tells NewsChannel 9 there is a fire alarm system in the building but that it did not go off. He believes it did not go off because the bulk of the smoke was in the ceiling of the building.
Muckey says he is unsure if there are smoke detectors inside the building.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Muckey says workers believe it was due to an installation done on the property on Tuesday.
