Cuomo urges federal government to pass gun safety reforms

Local News

Gun control activists and families of school shooting victims protested the nation’s largest gun lobby Saturday.

Protesters gathered outside NRA headquarters in Virginia, demanding stricter gun laws and calling on the IRS to revoke the NRA’s tax exempt status.

In the Bronx, Governor Cuomo continued to call for gun safety reforms.

“They are political bullies, they control the president, they control the congress and they control most state legislators and most governors,” said the governor, when asked about the NRA. “They don’t control me, they never will and they have a problem with that. I don’t. I’m tired of hearing politicians say, once a week after there’s another shooting, on almost a weekly basis. I’m tired of politicians saying, we’ll remember them in our thoughts and prayers. If the NRA goes away, I’ll remember the NRA in my thoughts and prayers – how about that?”

The National Rifle Association says it is dedicated to supporting and defending the Second Amendment right of law-abiding citizens.
