The Department of Environmental Conservation says 2018 tied the record-low for hunting-related shooting deaths in New York.
The state says three died and 13 people were hurt, including 6 self-inflicted, last year in hunting accidents that involved guns.
In one case a 75 year-old man in Essex County was killed when he used his rifle to help him stand up. His gun discharged and he was shot in the chest.
