Deerfield homeowner who shot two people during burglary attempt released from jail

Local News

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — In Oneida County, a homeowner who shot and killed two people during a burglary attempt at his Deerfield home is out of jail.

WKTV in Utica reports that Ronald Stolarczyk was released without any bail.

Police say he interrupted a burglary at his Walker Road home last week, firing shots from an illegally-owned handgun, killing Patricia Anne Talerico and Nicholas Talerico.

The homeowner is now facing criminal possession of a weapon charge. His defense attorney says Stolarczyk’s release at this point speaks volumes.

“He was released on his own recognizance, and that is an indication to me, that the District Attorney’s office recognizes that this is not a dangerous person,” said defense attorney Mark Wolber.

Stolarczyk is due back in court in August. His attorney is asking for the charges against him to be dropped.
