DeWitt Police arrest man in connection to purse theft

Local News

DeWitt Police have arrested a man who allegedly stole an elderly woman’s purse from a local library back in December of 2018.

The woman told police she placed her clutch purse on one of the shelves of the Village of East Syracuse Library on North Center Street and accidentally left it behind while looking at books in another area of the library.

According to police, surveillance video shows two men walking by the shelf where the purse was left, quickly concealing it and leaving the library.

One of the men, who allegedly took the purse, has been identified as Cameron Rushlow.

Rushlow was arrested for larceny.

The other man seen on video was not arrested in connection to the purse theft, but police arrested him for several other alleged crimes he committed in the village.
