DeWitt Police search for suspects in connection to purse theft

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - DeWitt Police are hoping you can help them close the books on a purse theft at a local library. An elderly woman's purse was stolen during the noon hour on December 29, 2018.

The woman told police she placed her clutch purse on one of the shelves of the Village of East Syracuse Library on North Center Street and accidentally left it behind while looking at books in another area of the library.


According to police, surveillance video shows two men walking by the shelf where the purse was left, quickly concealing it and leaving the library. Police are sharing photos two men who they want to question about the stolen purse that contained the woman's identification, money, a debit card and a flip phone.
