Local News

SALINA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A home in Salina was damaged in an early morning fire.

Just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, crews were called to a two-family home on Old Liverpool Road in Salina.

The resident of the first floor called 911 after hearing her smoke detector go off.

That resident and her child escaped through a window. They both had minor injuries.

The residents of the second-floor apartment got out of the residence safely.

It took crews about 30 minutes to put out the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting with relocating the residents.

The Onondaga County Fire Investigators Unit said the fire was accidental and caused by food left on a stove.
