A temporary boat launch has been built in the Village of Fair Haven to prepare for visitors on Memorial Day.
The village’s permanent boat launches are currently flooded and likely won’t be ready until June.
“The bay brings in a lot of people [and] a lot of business,” Walter Krehling, the village’s deputy mayor, said. “For the past month, we’ve been really hurting for people to come in because they can’t use the bay.”
A five mile per hour wake zone in the bay remains in effect for boats, according to Krehling.
Fair Haven State Beach will be closed for Memorial Day as well, and will likely remain closed until the weather improves.
Much of the beach is currently flooded and parts of the parking lot will need to be repaired once its reopened.
