COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Baseball fans have started flocking to Cooperstown for Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend.

This year’s class includes Harold Baines, former Syracuse Chiefs great Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, Mariano Rivera, and Lee Smith.

The Induction Ceremony takes place at 1:30 p.m. on July 21 on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, one mile south of the Hall of Fame on Susquehanna Avenue.

Admission to the Induction Ceremony is free. The Ceremony will be televised live exclusively on MLB Network.

Dominic Dauley is a Mariano Rivera fan who came to Cooperstown with his great grandfather.

‘It’s going to be indescribable. He’s one of the best players of all-time and I love that I’m going to be part of it, it’s going to be amazing,” Dauley says.

His Great Grandfather Ron Gaetino adds, “Life’s about the moment. He looks at Mariano Rivera, all he knows is what kind of person he is.”

Brian Gable brought his family to their first Induction Ceremony ever. He says, “Never been to an induction so it’s our first induction. Just wanted to come to see Rivera, followed him his whole career, been to a lot of big games at the stadium and it feels like a fitting way to send him off.”

Les Szabo a Mariano Rivera fan came to Cooperstown all the way from Jacksonville, Florida.

“Here to honor the Mariano Rivera induction. I’ve been a Yankee fan most of my life. This is my final tribute to him, see him live and in-person to see him get inducted for all of the accomplishments and wonderful things he did for the Yankees,” he tells NewsChannel 9.
