The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal assistance is available for that major snowstorm in March— including aid for four Central New York counties.

Local governments in Cortland, Oneida, Madison and Tompkins counties can all apply to receive money.

The storm was declared a major disaster today, which means federal money is now available to cover emergency work and repairs, as well as make long-term improvements to reduce the impact of future disasters.

The total cost of repairs is estimated to be about $31.4 million.
