LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Multiple crews responded to a fire that destroyed a home in the Liverpool area.
The fire happened at a home on Thornwood Drive, off of Wyant Way and Juneway Drive.
Liverpool fire says multiple calls came in around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday. People say they saw flames coming out of the roof.
When crews arrived, four people and a dog had made it out safely after smoke detectors woke them up. The family’s two cars and driveway also caught on fire.
The Liverpool Fire Chief says there were other factors making the flames harder to fight.
“We also had live wires that were falling down into the driveway, which slowed down our response to getting water on the fire immediately,” Liverpool Fire Chief Jerry Payne said.
The chief says the house is a total loss and the Red Cross is helping the family.
There were no injuries to the family or the firefighters.
Investigators are looking into the cause.
