A former psychiatrist has been arrested for allegedly stealing over $6,000 from the state by falsifying time and attendance records.
According to the New York State Inspector General, 59-year-old Morales Brown was working for the New York State Office of Mental Health at its Central New York Psychiatric Center and is accused of falsifying inmate medical records, claiming he evaluated and treated inmate patients, when he actually did not.
Between August and September 2016 while employed as a psychiatrist for the New York State Office of Mental Health, Brown allegedly falsified three medical records known as “Psychiatric Progress Notes” after falsely claiming to have attended to inmate patients, according to the Inspector General.
Brown is also accused of falsifying his timesheets between January 2016 and September 2016, allegedly putting in for time he did not work.
He was charged with third-degree grand larceny and four counts of first-degree offering false instrument for filing, both felonies.
Brown was placed on administrative leave on September 15, 2016.
