MIAMI, FLORIDA (AP) Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters has been suspended by the team for their season opener against Memphis Wednesday night for what was described as “conduct detrimental to the team.”

Heat president Pat Riley says there were a number of unacceptable incidents involving the former Syracuse University guard during the week, which culminated in a heated discussion with Waiters and coach Erik Spoelstra on the bench Friday night.
