On Tuesday evening, Frazer Elementary opened a free clothing closet for students in need of anything to wear for the school year.
The closet was filled with gently used and new clothing donated from the community over the summer.
Jenafer Medina, a third grade teacher at Frazer, began the drive in June to aid families that can’t afford the proper clothing for their children.
The closet opened for the first time Tuesday, the day before school, and will remain open all year.
“It’s a very wonderful feeling to know if I can’t put boots on my child, when my child goes to school, there is somebody here who can provide for my child,” said Dorothy Lando, a parent.
The school is also going to open a food pantry that families can use to bring home extra food for long weekends or holidays.
