Funding approved for monitoring water quality in Skaneateles Lake

Local News

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon has announced more than $100,000 in funding to monitor and maintain water quality on Skaneateles Lake.

The funding is part of the Watershed Nine Element Plan, funding by the Onondaga Civic Development Corporation.

The idea is to make sure the water is safe for the hundreds of thousands of people who drink the water that comes out of Skaneateles Lake.

Funding is expected to come from the state later this year, but the county is taking precautionary measures in the case of harmful algal blooms on the lake.
