The bear fountain in the village of Geneseo was struck by a vehicle again on February 4, this time by an allegedly drunk driver.

Police say that Ryan Sweeney, 37, of Springville was driving on Center Street when he attempted to turn left onto Main Street.

Sweeney allegedly cut in front of the fountain, which is in the center of the intersection, and crashed into it.

Sweeney was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and disobeying a traffic control device.

He is scheduled to appear in Geneseo Village Court on March 7.

The basin of the fountain was heavily damaged when it was hit by a truck in April of 2016, and is expected to be replaced this summer.
