Teacm USA Hockey forward Kendall Coyne hosted a free girls hockey clinic Saturday afternoon before the Syracuse Crunch game.

In South Korea, she helped lead the USA women’s hockey team to their first gold win in 20-years.

Today, she wanted to encourage the girls in central New York to follow her footsteps.

She remembers seeing a gold medalist almost 20-years ago. It’s a moment that sticks with her.

“That empowered me to want to win a gold medal myself and go to the Olympics, so just to think of what this opportunity could do for a lot of young girls is truly special,” Coyne said.

She hopes her team’s gold medal win gives a shot in the arm to women’s sports across the country.
