HENDERSON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Keeping an eye on the shoreline, Governor Andrew Cuomo once again visited neighborhoods along the edge of Lake Ontario, and this time, he was in the Town of Henderson.
There is concern that water levels could continue to rise and threaten many communities, like those in Oswego County that are still recovering from the floods in 2017.
The Governor made it clear that he thinks now is the time to act.
“The first step for us is to do everything we can to prepare for a possible emergency. Once the wind picks up and the waves pick up and the flooding starts, it’s too late. Then we’re in a response mode, trying to reduce as much as we can the damage that’s being caused,” Cuomo said.
Members of the New York National Guard are on standby if flooding begins.
