SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) – Of all the sports at Syracuse University, basketball and football get the most attention.
But over the past few years, the women’s tennis team has quietly had its most successful seasons in history. Much of that credit can go to Gabriela Knutson.
Knutson will graduate from Syracuse University on Sunday. As soon as she picks up her diploma, she’ll have to put it down and pick up a tennis racket to practice for the NCAA singles tournament.
It’s just another sacrifice she’s had to make to be a tennis superstar.
Next year, she’ll play for Durham University in the United Kingdom, likely her last year of tennis. She’s passing up a pro career knowing how much success she can also have off the court.
