SKANEATELES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A group has acquired 900 feet of shoreline on Skaneateles Lake in hopes of preserving some of the shoreline.
The Finger Lakes Land Trust says the acquisition is a priority project in the state’s open space conservation plan to protect natural resources.
More than 220,000 people get their drinking water from Skaneateles Lake, including some in the City of Syracuse.
The acquisition includes the Staghorn Cliffs. They are steep cliffs with fossilized coral reef next to the Dickinson Preserve, which is home to some bald eagles.
