Jason Ploss, a Danube resident, was honored this week for saving the life of a Yorkville woman after her car drove off the road and rolled over in September of 2018.
Ploss had heard the crash and ran to the scene. He saw Melissa Knudsen inside the car and had to force the driver’s side door open to pull Knudsen to safety, moments before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.
State Police say if not for Ploss’ heroism, Knudsen would likely have died in the fire.
Major Philip Rougeux, Troop D Commander, presented Ploss with a New York State Police Certificate of Recognition for his lifesaving efforts.
