Holland Patent man seriously injured after crashing car

Local News

A man is in serious condition after State Police say he crashed his car in an Oneida County town.

According to State Police, 22-year-old Erick Ward was driving east on Powell Road in the town of Trenton at “a speed unreasonable for the roadway” just before 10 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Ward went off the roadway on the south shoulder, traveled approximately 165 feet off the roadway, and re-entered Powell Road then exited the roadway again on the north shoulder of the roadway.

The vehicle then traveled approximately 63 feet off the roadway when it collided with a tree.

Ward was airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse.

Troopers say it appears speed was a factor in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
