SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A sold out game at the Dome on Saturday means Syracuse will be crawling with football fans, hungry for a good game and a little grub.
Bar and restaurant owners are already gearing up for a great crowd and hotels are filling up.
The Best Western on the Carrier Circle and the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel are completely booked for Saturday. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, the Embassy Suites on the Carrier Circle had only five rooms left.
Finding a place to rest up before and after the game could be a challenge, but restaurants like Varisty and Faegan’s Cafe & Pub have plenty of room.
“Our ordering is doubled, tripled,” said Jerry Dellas, co-owner of Varsity and Faegan’s. He lives for evening games that bring in a steady stream of fans from morning to night.
“We’ll probably be busy from open straight through the day,” said Dellas.
It’s not just Orange Nation spending the green. The opposing team, also decked out in orange, will be spending some cash too.
“They usually find a place to take over,” said Dellas. “I think it was Faegan’s a couple of years ago or last year.”
The real profit though fills more than just the register. “It brings people together,” said Dellas.
