Hundreds participate in Paige’s Butterfly run to raise money for Golisano Children’s Hospital

Local News

(WSYR-TV) — The sun was shining down on nearly 2,000 runners and walkers taking their marks in the annual Paige’s Butterfly Run in downtown Syracuse on Saturday.

The event raised money for pediatric cancer research and patient programs at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

“I think it exemplifies the feeling that we have at the center that we are family and everybody is supporting each other, and just trying to make a miserable situation and condition a little bit less so, and that’s what this is all about,” said Gloria Kennedy, a physician with pediatric oncology at Upstate Medical Center.

Our Farah Jadran was the starting-line emcee and Dan Cummings announced at the finish line. Storm Team meteorologist Kate Thornton and her daughter Elsie ran in the race too.
