An Ithaca College student is dead after losing control of her vehicle.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office says just after 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, Kelly Anne Perkins, 19, of Berkshire crossed over to an oncoming lane at the 700 block of Valley Road in the Town of Caroline. Deputies say her Ford Focus hit a GMC pick-up truck. Deputies believe Perkins lost control on a snow covered roadway.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bangs Ambulance, Brooktondale Fire and Slaterville Fire Departments assisted at the scene. At this time there are no charges and the crash is still under investigation.

Ithaca College’s President said in a statement:

“It is with profound sadness that I share with our campus community that an automobile accident has taken the life of one of our students, Kelly Perkins. Kelly was killed this morning while traveling to campus from her home in nearby Berkshire. She is the daughter of longtime Ithaca College employees Enoch and Debbie Perkins.”
