Ithaca man arrested for stealing chainsaws from Lowe’s and threatening employee with hatchet

(WSYR-TV) — An Ithaca man has been arrested after Ithaca Police say he stole several items, including chainsaws, from the Lowe’s on Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway, and threatened an employee with a hatchet on Tuesday, June 11.

Zachery Burlingame, 31, was arrested for robbery and menacing — he also had a bench warrant on previous theft charges.

After Burlingame threatened an employee with a hatchet, he took off to an area locals know as “The Jungle” where police found him in a tent with $1,300 worth of stolen property.

He was arraigned and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $11,000 cash or $21,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 17.
