Ithaca police officer fired after admitting to lying under oath

ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — An Ithaca police officer has been fired after admitting to lying under oath.

Ithaca’s mayor says Officer Kyle Paolangeli’s behavior did not live up to the high standards of the city’s police department.

The Ithaca Voice reported in October that Paolangeli was under investigation over accusations he searched an apartment without a warrant and then lied in testimony to a grand jury.

Mayor Svante Myrick says he will not comment further as the city is still working on a related civil lawsuit.
