A corrections officer has been arrested for allegedly filing a false written report regarding an incident with inmates under his supervision, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 3, deputies say 27-year-old Giovanni Procino allegedly lied to his supervisors and filed a false report about an incident that involved the management and security of several inmates.

Procino has been charged with second-degree falsifying business records and official misconduct, both misdemeanors.

He has been a corrections officer for two years and was working at the Jamesville Correctional Facility at the time of his arrest.

Procino has been suspended without pay.
