Lawmakers pushing for Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill

Local News

UNITED STATES (WSYR-TV) — Congressman John Katko is one of three lawmakers urging the treasury secretary to move ahead with a plan to memorialize Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.

It was previously announced that Andrew Jackson was getting the boot and the abolitionist would be taking his place on the new bills.

However, the Trump administration has made no move to make that happen.

In a statement, Katko was among the lawmakers who said, “Harriet Tubman’s fight for equality and freedom embodies the American spirit and she deserves to be featured beside our founding fathers.”
