SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The seemingly never-ending wet weather we’ve experienced so far this spring is putting some stress on seasonal businesses, including local golf courses.
The wet weather has cancelled leagues, kept carts parked and in some cases, closed courses for days at a time across Central New York.
“It deters play because everyone wants to ride a cart, especially when they get out of work all day,” said Eric Hofsommer, Course Superintendent at Tecumseh Golf Club. “They just can’t get out there and have fun and enjoy it.”
Mowing schedules for grounds crews have been impacted as well. Hofsommer believes we are a few weeks away from courses getting up to par.
