UNITED STATES (WSYR-TV) — Uber drivers around the world are striking Wednesday ahead of the company’s initial public offering Friday.
Lyft drivers are also joining in on the strike.
Drivers say they want livable wages, regulated fares and job security.
They say the founders of Lyft and Uber have gotten rich while they are labeled as contractors and denied full employee benefits.
A majority of the strikes are in major cities like New York City.
There hasn’t been a report of any impact around Central New York.
