LANSING, N.Y (WSYR-TV) — A man from Lansing has been sentenced to five years probation after New York State Police say he killed a rabbit in a microwave.
According to Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten, Seth Decker of Lansing was sentenced Monday to five years probation. Van Houten says he was pushing for Decker to serve two years in jail. Decker was arrested on October 25, 2018.
Troopers say they were called to a gas station in Lansing on October 24 around 7:44 p.m., to speak with a victim who alleged Decker threatened to harm her pet rabbit and another person.
The victim told Troopers that Decker was angry after an argument and allegedly told the victim he would put her pet rabbit inside the microwave at a residence on Lockerby Hill Road. Another person who was in the residence says they saw Decker place the rabbit in the microwave and turn it on.
When Troopers arrived on scene, they say they found the rabbit dead in the microwave.
