A man who was wanted in Mississippi was arrested on Friday in Cortland County.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi on Friday, and was asked to assist them in locating a stolen vehicle along with a wanted subject from their jurisdiction.
While tracking down leads, deputies say an investigator found the stolen vehicle being operated on Mill Street in the Village of Marathon.
The driver matched the description of the wanted person.
The driver, Derrick Griffiths, 31, was arrested without incident and taken to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
He was charged with fugitive from justice as a felony (as he was wanted in Mississippi for felony embezzlement).
The truck was impounded and is being held to be turned over to Grenada County officials.
