FAIR HAVEN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- More rain means uncertainty for people who live along Lake Ontario.
The Village of Fair Haven will be providing free sandbags for neighbors who live along Lake Ontario, as they’ve been dealing with lake levels that are a foot higher than usual.
This isn’t the first time places like Fair Haven have dealt with high water, as they experienced some flooding in 2017.
The signs aren’t as dire this year, but this time, residents aren’t taking any chances.
The uncertainty is mainly due to the International Joint Commission, or IJC, which controls how much water is released from Lake Ontario.
Sandbag pickup will begin at noon on Wednesday at the Church Street Village Pavilion.
