NASA growing plants in space

Local News

UNITED STATES (WSYR-TV) — NASA has found a way to grow plants in space. That’s right. NASA has a garden.

NASA’s garden includes lettuce, cabbage and kale to help keep the astronauts healthy.

Rather than sunlight, space plants are given nutrients and exposed to LEDs to grow. The plants are harvested after about a month, then they’re analyzed and taste-tested.
