In an effort to curb the opioid epidemic nationwide, multiple drug stores will be participating in a prescription drug take-back event on Saturday.
The event starts at 10 a.m. on April 28.
According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs.
The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
If you have any old or expired prescription drugs, you can drop them off at a participating pharmacy or law enforcement building.
New Yorkers can also visit clearyourcabinet.com to find their nearest drop-off site and sign up for text or email reminders.
