OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — There are some new basketball courts at Breitbeck Park in Oswego.
Oswego Mayor Billy Barlow was on hand Thursday to officially open the courts. Barlow and the Oswego Common Council also dedicated the basketball courts to Garrett Dunsmoor, an Oswego native who passed away suddenly in 2018 at the age of 22.
The basketball courts were relocated and new courts were built, which allowed the Harbor Trail to extend 500 feet, allowing it to wrap around and connect to the Park.
The City of Oswego is also building new fire pits and seating areas where the basketball courts previously were. Girl Scout Troop 10905 is partnering with the city to develop a diverse play area, which will include a checker board, cornhole game, hopscotch and more.
