New water samples tested Friday show that drinking water from Skaneateles Lake is still safe to drink, despite blue-green algae showing up in the drinking water supply for the first time Tuesday.
The latest test results surrounding the blue-green algae in Skaneateles Lake has slightly improved.
Samples tested found 0.19 parts per billion inside the City of Syracuse’s water supply, which is down from 0.25 parts per billion that was found on Thursday.
The results are getting farther away from the .30 parts per billion safety threshold that would likely lead to warning about drinking the water.
More chlorine has been added to the water, which is what’s thought to be fighting the contamination.
The Health Department will keep testing until the contaimination is gone.
