The Great New York State Fair will launch a new, two-day storytelling event this year.
The “Great New York Story Slam” will be on Friday August 31st and Saturday September 1st at 6 p.m. in the Empire Theater of the Art & Home Center.
The theme of the storytelling event is “Life in New York State.”
10 people will be selected on Friday from the audience members who have preregistered for the event.
If you are chosen, you will have five minutes to tell a true story from your life based on the theme.
Judges will choose three storytellers to receive medals and gift baskets of New York products from Taste NY.
On Saturday, “Unravel” will feature three master storytellers, telling longer stories. Comedy improvisation troupes will perform after each story.
