No wake zone issued for part of Seneca River due to high water levels

Local News

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has issued a no wake zone between Three Rivers West and Cross Lake on the Seneca River. That means boaters will have to keep speeds below 5 mph in the area.

The limit was put in place after last week’s heavy rainfall. The Sheriff’s Office says shorelines along the river are submerged, making docks and other structures difficult to see.

Boaters will be responsible for any damage caused if they do not obey the no wake zone. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says patrols will be increased in the area.
