North Syracuse elementary school custodian arrested on child porn charges

Local News

A custodian at Smith Road Elementary School in the North Syracuse School District has been arrested on child pornography charges.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old William Dudley was in possession of several hundred child exploitation images and videos, which depicted sexual conduct by a child under the age of 16.

Deputies say he distributed the images and videos on the internet.

Dudley has been charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, both felonies.

He was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.

At this time, it does not appear any students in the North Syracuse District were involved.

Annette Speach, the superintendent of the district, says Dudley has been removed from duty pending further investigation by law enforcement and the district.

She noted that Dudley worked the second shift, which was from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The investigation into Dudley began when members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) division at the Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
