A program meant to help those with developmental disabilities is now in use across New York State.
The changes are largely in part to the push by a Capital Region Assemblyman who has a son with autism.
Those looking to apply for a Developmental Disability ID Card for themselves or a loved one can do so by clicking here.
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara said this will make things easier for people like his son Michael.
“This can apply to a number of different related conditions as well where communication issues and other issues are present,” said Santabarbara.
Local police departments say this will help them respond to situations better as well.
