NY State Trooper suffers serious injuries after patrol car struck during traffic stop

(UPDATE 10:40 p.m.) New York State Police have not released any details on the status of the trooper involved in Wednesday afternoon’s accident. There’s also no word on the status of the other people involved in the accident.

Police say the crash is still under investigation.

A New York State Trooper suffers serious injuries after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle during a traffic stop in the Town of Campbell Wednesday. It happened just before 5 p.m on I-86 west past exit 41..

According to police, the trooper was inside his patrol vehicle when it was struck.

He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The identity of the trooper has not been released.

Traffic in both the east and westbound lanes of I-86 were closed off, sending traffic to side roads. The westbound lane of I-86 remained closed for several hours.
